There are fast wheels, and then there are wheels that make it clear, just by looking at them, what they were designed for.
The Overfast Aerion EVO are Overfast's most advanced offering in its aerodynamic range: a set of deep-section carbon wheels that combines rims with 50, 60, or 85 mm with one of its main distinguishing features: spokes made of VONOA carbon and titanium.
The goal is clear: to achieve an overall setup that is light, stiff, and aerodynamic without compromising the stability needed to ride fast on the road.
A wheel designed to go fast
The first impression when seeing the Aerion EVO is clear: are pure-performance wheels.
They are not intended to be a versatile option for every type of terrain, but to maximize speed when the pace picks up.
The range offers three rim depths, so the choice will depend on how we use the bike:
-
50 mm: 935 g per set
-
60 mm: 1,045 g per set
-
85 mm: 1,465 g per set
The detail that makes the difference: VONOA spokes
If there is one element that sets the Aerion EVO apart from conventional carbon wheels, it is their VONOA carbon and titanium spokes.
Instead of using traditional metal spokes, Overfast has opted for a much more exclusive solution that allows it to reducing weight while maintaining a very stiff setup. And it is not merely an aesthetic detail.
With deep-section wheels, reducing the weight of the overall setup while maintaining good lateral stiffness can make a real difference, especially when accelerating, changing pace, or standing on the pedals.
This pursuit of a balance between weight, stiffness, and aerodynamics that defines the Aerion EVO.
25 mm internal width: ready for today's tires
Its 25 mm internal width is another important point to highlight. 28 mm tires have become commonplace in recent years, and setups with 30 mm or even wider are increasingly common.
The Aerion EVO are designed specifically with this new generation of tires in mind.
The result is a setup that allows for a larger contact patch with the asphalt and operation at lower pressures, which can translate into more comfort and grip without sacrificing the wheel’s racing character.
The system also uses a hooked profilehooked, with a maximum recommended pressure of up to 110 psi for 28 mm tires.
50, 60 or 85 mm?
One of the great advantages of the Aerion EVO wheels is being able to choose the profile.
Aerion 50
With just 935 grams, it’s the lightest option in the range. It’s probably the most balanced choice for anyone looking for fast road wheels without turning the bike into an aero bike.
Its profile also makes it particularly interesting for routes with more elevation gain and for cyclists who want to maintain more versatile handling.
If you’re looking for maximum versatility and do a lot of climbing, the 50 mm profile is probably the most logical choice.
Aerion 60
We step up in depth and aerodynamic character too. At around 1,045 grams, the Aerion 60 aim for a very interesting balance between weight and speed.
It’s the profile we choose for a setup clearly focused on performance: enough depth to take advantage of aerodynamics at high speeds, but without going as far as the extreme approach of an 85 mm wheel.
If your priority is to find a balance between speed, weight and handling, the 60 mm are probably the sweet spot.
Aerion 85
There’s no doubt here. The 85 mm are designed for those who want to maximize aerodynamic performance. With 1,465 grams in terms of weight set aside the goal of reducing grams and focus on maintaining speed.
This is a particularly interesting profile for rfast courses, triathlon, time trials or aero bikes where every detail is designed to reduce air resistance.
If you’re looking exclusively for speed and aerodynamics, the 85 mm are the most radical in the range.
How do they perform?
The Aerion EVO wheels are designed around three concepts: speed, stiffness and aerodynamics.
The carbon and titanium construction is designed to deliver for the wheel’s response to be direct when we apply power, while deep profiles help maintain speed once we’ve reached a high pace.
It’s the type of wheel that makes sense when the goal isn’t simply to climb faster, but perder menos velocidad entre una aceleración y otra.
lose less speed between one acceleration and the next
On flat roads, rolling terrain and fast routes, a wheel like this really comes into its own. And the deeper the profile, the clearer that character becomes.
It is not all about weight
One of the most interesting arguments for the Aerion EVO is precisely that Overfast has not simply tried to make “the lightest wheel possible”. The Aerion 50 starts at 935 grams, a very low figure for a set of 50 mm aero wheels, but the range concept goes much further. The idea is to combine:
Carbon + aero profile + VONOA spokes + 25 mm internal width + stiffness.
The result is a wheel designed to deliver speed in every respect. Because on the road, especially when riding at high speeds, it is not all about weight.

Our conclusion
The Overfast Aerion EVO wheels are not trying to be just another set of wheels. Their approach is more specific: maximum aero performance with an extremely lightweight construction and spokes that break with convention. And that is precisely what makes them stand out.
If you have a high-performance road bike and want to take your speed to the next level, the Aerion EVO wheels are an option that deserves a place on your list.
Three profiles. One goal: go faster.
